Oriental Sesame Beef recipe

Gluten & Dairy free, quick and easy

Oriental Sesame Beef – a super easy weeknight dinner!

This recipe was an end-of-the week, whatever is in the cupboard kind of throw together. But when served to the family and Scott said ‘YUM’ and the girls actually ate it without sticking the noodles to the wall – I knew this was a keeper!

The sesame in this Oriental Sesame Beef recipe is more than just a flavour enhancer…

This recipe has 3 kinds of sesame; sesame oil (if you use it) as well as sesame seeds and tahini (which is ground sesame seeds turned into a ‘butter’).

Sesame seeds are rich in copper and manganese, as well as calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, vitamin B1, zinc, molybdenum, selenium, and dietary fibre. They also have 2 unique substances: sesamin and sesamolin. Both of these substances belong to a group of special beneficial fibers called lignans, and have been shown to have a cholesterol-lowering effect in humans, and to prevent high blood pressure and increase vitamin E supplies in animals. Sesamin has also been found to protect the liver from oxidative damage.[1]

Just a quick side-note: avoid over-cooking your veggies!

A huge part of what makes this recipe so damn tasty is the CRUNCH factor to the veggies – so don’t overcook them! A soggy stir fry is never nice. Otherwise this is a simple 10 minute dinner that is virtually fool-proof!
